In the latest development, India cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir’s personal assistant has been reportedly banned by BCCI from travelling with the team. The move reportedly comes after a complaint was lodged against Gaurav Arora with the BCCI for allegedly having access to areas that are permitted only for players, support staff or selectors. If true, this will be the latest move made by the BCCI, having cracked the whip on several issues after India’s loss to Australia.
BCCI cracks whip on Gambhir’s assistant?
As per CricBlogger, Gambhir’s assistant Arora has been banned from staying at the team hotel, travelling with the team, using the team bus and accessing VIP boxes in the stadiums. The report claims that Arora had allegedly accessed the BCCI’s hospitality box at Adelaide during IND vs AUS 2nd Test, using cars that were earmarked for selectors, entering the restricted breakfast zones at the team’s hotel.
“In response, the BCCI has barred Gambhir’s PA from staying in the same hotel as the Indian team, accessing VIP boxes in stadiums, and using the team bus. He can’t travel with the team,” a source told CricBlogger.

Earlier, the BCCI had issued restrictions on the members of the players’ families traveling with them on tours. For series that span over 45 days, the families are only allowed to stay with the players for 14 days. For tours that are shorter, the kin are allowed to stay only for seven days. Additionally, the BCCI has also barred the players from traveling with their personal hair stylists and chefs.
All these issues were reportedly raised during the BCCI’s review meeting at the headquarters in Mumbai. Skipper Rohit Sharma, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, coach Gambhir and other members of the board were present at the meeting. The ten-point advisory issued by the BCCI came after the meeting.
